Classic Blue and White

The perfect off-shoulder top, and how to wear culottes.

So did anyone have any bloopers with the time change this past weekend?  You know they made daylight savings time on the weekend because so many people would be late (or early, depending on Spring or Fall) if it was a weekday.  I'm not a fan of losing an hour of sleep, but I do like having more light left in the day when I get off work.  My husband actually works on the weekends, and he set his clock ahead before going to sleep on Saturday night not knowing that his clock had an auto-adjust for DST, and his alarm went off at 4a instead of 5a.  That makes losing an hour even worse!

What to Wear When it's Summer Weather in the Winter

Happy Washington's Birthday,  National Margarita Day and Full Moon!  Who knew February 22 was such a party day? LOL  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Ours was busy but good. Quality time with loved ones always makes the days good, regardless of the activities.  For some reason my son woke up at 5:45a on Saturday morning (then slept in until 6:45 today, go figure) so my weekend started early.  We got out of the house early to get the car washed (our car came with free car washes for life when we bought it a little over a year ago) only to find out that the dealer has cancelled that perk due to the California drought.

When I was a kid, the channel AMC (now home to original programming like "The Walking Dead") was known for playing classic oldie movies (after all, "AMC" stands for American Movie Classics). Being the cinema lover that I was, I loved watching the old Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara films.  There's just something about those Hollywood golden years, and the beautiful, feminine style of the 40's and 50's.  I always loved the women in their dresses (although I didn't envy the girdles you know they were wearing underneath to get their trim little waists.)

You Found Me in a Blue Maxi

Hello there! I've been MIA lately, I know, I'm sorry.  I had a little post-holiday productivity slump, and the weather and my schedule were not cooperating to get any images taken. We needed the rain, but it makes shooting outside a bit difficult.  But now I'm back!

Timewarp (and a pink maxi)

For last Christmas, my sister made me a custom 2015 calendar with pictures of my son for the year prior (his first full year of life). Last night I flipped to October and had a momentary trip down memory lane as I viewed the images she chose for this month.  Every time I see pictures of my son from last year I am literally stunned.  I feel like I'm in another dimension, that the baby in those pictures is someone different than the toddler I chase around now. A year to an adult is most times not a dramatic change.  But a year in the life of a small person is so dramatic.  And for most of us, until we become a parent, we don't witness these dramatic changes on a first hand basis until we have our own kids.

Think about it: when you're a kid, you don't notice yourself changing. And your friends are all changing at the approximate same pace as you. And the adults in your life are already adults and always will be adults, so you don't notice change in them at all.  And when you're an adult, you're mostly with adults, and there is not usually dramatic change in them.  But with a baby, they literally grow over night.  It's the most surreal thing.  I see those pictures of my little chub when he was learning to walk, and I remember scooping him up in my arms and how he fit just right.  I felt like he was mostly the same from one day to the next, but now a year later, the change is so dramatic, and that little baby is gone.  Its such a weird thing, when I think about it, I'm almost in mourning (my eyes tear up, my husband doesn't really understand. Its a mom thing.)  I am so excited by my son's developments and watching him learn and grow - it's so amazing and fun - but I can't deny I miss that little baby a bit.

Because babies make everything better - had to snap a few with my photographer's son.  It feels like yesterday my little guy was this small, now he's running and talking and so big!
