A Dress for Any Occasion

[Midi Dress - Floral dress - New Year style]

So here we are, the first week of the new year.  I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's celebration this past weekend.  We were low key: had my sister-in-law and niece over on NYE, ordered some BBQ (and I made a from-scratch blueberry cobbler for dessert, which was mighty tasty, if I do say so myself), the kiddos played til their bedtime, then we adults watched a movie ("Antman", if you were curious. Wasn't bad, actually. I mean, it's a Marvel comic character, you can't expect serious art.)  We made it to midnight to ring in the new year, but I have to confess we were already in bed, and had the lights off by 12:01 am. ;)  New Years day we spent at my in-laws for my husband's birthday, and just watched sports and over-ate, as usual.  A pretty boring way to ring in the new year, compared to many (compared even to my life 5 years ago), but priorities and interests definitely change as you age, and our weekend was just perfect for us.

This dress I wore for the holiday is one of my new favorites.  You can't tell from the pictures, but its a knit fabric with stretch, so it is very forgiving and soft and comfortable.  I love the colors and the length.  It looks equally cute with flats and a jean jacket as it does shown here with heels and gold accents.  Versatility is always a key consideration for me when I shop for wardrobe pieces, and this dress fits the bill. It is great for the office and/or the weekend, and is easy to move in when chasing a toddler around.
