White After Labor Day

I don't even know where the 'rule' no white after Labor Day came from.  It's silly, and I don't know anyone who follows it anymore.  Especially when the weather before and after Labor Day is like full summer, with unusually high heat and humidity.  And technically 'fall' doesn't start until next week, so I'm going keep dressing for the weather, and not for the calendar (though I am very ready for a cool down.)

I've been in love with both this top and the jean since I got them (the denim is so soft, and the top so light and airy) and I was excited to pair them together.  With temps in the 90s this past weekend, the flowy top and loose boyfriend were a more stylish option to just shorts and a tank top (no offense to shorts and tank tops, LOL.)

(And we were trying out a new camera lense, that didn't have quite the desired effect on the photos, so apologies on the slight fuzz to some of the images. You live, you learn.)

Shop my look below: Top is less than $23, jeans and shoes are sold out, but found similar look for you.

Hoping for some sun

Wonky weather in LA lately. Warm enough for sundresses, but not all that much sun.  Put on this light little dress in the hopes the sun will come out, and I can get my vitamin D fix for the day.

First time I wore this dress was for my husband's Grandpa's 90th birthday party last week, which was why we had gone to Arkansas.  I was initially a little concerned about the security of the top and straps - I didn't want to have to worry about keeping my top up while chasing my toddler around. But the style is very secure.  Didn't have to adjust a strap once.  And trust me, I did a lot of running around. (Oh, and the Electric Slide.)

It's a dress that you can't help but feel pretty and feminine in.  I envision wearing it dancing on some hot night in resort in Latin America (not that I've ever been dancing at a resort in Latin America, but in my imagination it works!  Give me some retro waves and a flower behind my ear....can you see it?)

You can snag the dress for yourself below - it's less than $20!

Now counting down the hours til the long weekend begins....do you have fun plans you're looking forward to?

Friday Favorites - Forever 21

Forever 21 has really stepped up their game lately.  I've been visiting them more in the past several years since they added the Love21 line, which was aimed at a -- how shall I say it? -- post-highschool/post-college aged shopper.  The sizing of those items is more real, less tiny (so why can't everything be sized real? I digress....)  They recently renamed the Love21 shop to Contemporary, and in addition the chic-ness of their offerings seems to have gone up.  Honestly, I think I could completely replace my entire closet with their items right now.  While the quality isn't the same, I can imagine finding some of these styles in Anthropologie or BCGG, don't you think?

Here are few of my favorites for the summertime:

Any you'd like to add to your own closet?

And while you're thinking about that and what you have, won't you make a quick stop at yesterday's post to see how you can easily help your own community by taking a selfie?
